CCSF's First Advertisement
On January 19, 1995, an advertisement in the Villager newspaper asked a very important question: “How can we turn lemons into lemonade?”
That was the same year that Cherry Creek Schools tried to pass a budget election, but the measure failed to pass. This is the CCSF’s first-ever advertisement, letting our community know that plenty of folks in our community support the critical funding of our schools and encouraging them to support the Foundation.
Then – and now – Cherry Creek Schools is proud to help support students, no matter what. From funding mental health programs, classroom grants, and emergency relief for families to supporting the district in its goals to help all students find their Pathway of Purpose, the Foundation began with students as the center and continues to this day!
SIDE NOTE: When we tried to find the former Foundation suite (#220), we learned it is now home to computer servers – or so we thought! Did you know that the CCSD Educational Services Center has changed several times in the past thirty years? Between expansions and internal construction, we couldn’t find the actual, original location of the Foundation office in 1995. Fortunately, we not only know where the current location is – but we know the Foundation has a “home” in schools across our district through the funding of classroom grants, mental health programs, and emergency relief.
We’ve enjoyed traveling down memory lane and hope you enjoyed it, too! Stay tuned for more history and we hope you’ll help us write the next thirty years of stories.
