This year’s Educator Initiative Grants reflect the extraordinary creativity and commitment of Cherry Creek Schools educators. With more than $200,000 awarded across the district, these grants elevate classroom innovation in ways that strengthen literacy, expand equity, and support the whole child.
Literacy continues to shine as one of the most impactful areas of investment. At Altitude Elementary, “Expanding Student Access with Browsing Book Bins” is helping young readers build independence by choosing books that reflect their interests and identities. Several educators in Adaptive Programs are using grants to expand accessible reading materials for students with significant needs, ensuring every learner can engage meaningfully with text. At The Hollies, culturally responsive classroom libraries are giving students the opportunity to see themselves—and their communities—reflected in the stories they read.
A number of grants advance equity and diversity, supporting classrooms where every student feels seen and valued. The “Exploring and Expanding Our World” project in Adaptive Programs introduces students to diverse experiences and perspectives through multimodal learning. At Overland High School, a language-equity initiative strengthens academic language development for multilingual learners, ensuring they can fully participate across content areas. And across multiple elementary schools, educators are investing in inclusive book collections that elevate a wide range of voices.
Many educators also prioritized social-emotional learning, building environments where students feel grounded, supported, and ready to learn. Adaptive Programs educators are expanding sensory tools and calming spaces that help students regulate emotions throughout the school day. At Arrowhead Elementary, a “Play to Learn” project uses structured games to strengthen cooperation, empathy, and communication among early learners. Additional initiatives across the district incorporate mindfulness, movement, and restorative practices that nurture resilience and connection.
Together, these grants represent a powerful belief: when educators are empowered to innovate, students thrive. We can’t wait to see how these ideas grow and transform learning throughout the year!
